Time to say goodbye: 2019 RANEPA Summer Campus is over
On July 23, one of the brightest student summer events of the year came to an end – the 8th International Summer Campus of the Presidential Academy. The most brilliant and gifted students from around the world have spent two weeks there discovering new horizons.
Every year, the Summer Campus organizers choose interesting and relevant topics for exploration. This time, the key theme of the Summer Campus was Innovations and Trends. President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Rector of the Presidential Academy Vladimir Mau, Minister of Economic Development Maxim Oreshkin and several dozen representatives of major global companies shared their knowledge and experience with the participating students.
More than 200 Summer Campus participants from 29 countries and 18 regions of Russia were divided into 12 international teams; each of them shared with others their country-specific experience, culture and traditions. Each team developed a project addressing one or several Sustainable Development Goals and presented it to the jury.
The final results and evaluations of the student projects were announced at the official closing ceremony attended by Deputy Prime Minister for the Digital Economy of Tatarstan Roman Shaikhutdinov, Summer Campus Director Natalya Demidova, Deputy Director Alexei Spirin, as well as all the tutors and moderators of the teams.
Roman Shaikhutdinov addressed the graduates of the Summer Campus of the Presidential Academy. “What I see here and what I like immensely is the highly communicative people with a broad outlook, fresh ideas, and open hearts.” He advised the participants to keep in touch with their new contacts from the past two weeks, and wished them luck in finding the projects and activities they feel best about pursuing.
The project developed by the Flexers was recognized the best on the Sustainable Development Goals Day. The best project according to the participants was presented by the WOW team – a system for processing food waste into pureed nutritious mix. Natalya Demidova announced the best project according to the jury – the Together team’s app for connecting people with disabilities and volunteers with the same hobbies and interests. These two weeks have been an incredible experience for the participants, the Director said. The tutors and moderators also named the best participants from each team.
Moderators are an indispensable part of the teams – as important as the team members. Every year, one of the participating students gets a chance to return to the Summer Campus of the Presidential Academy as a moderator. This year, Suleiman Aziz was the lucky one. One more participant will be able to attend the event for the second time. Emil Muradyan, a student of RANEPA Institute of Industrial Management (IIM) was invited to the organizing committee of the 2020 Summer Campus in recognition of his active involvement this year.
Traditionally, the official closing ceremony of RANEPA Summer Campus ended with releasing hundreds of snow-white balloons into the air and a flag ceremony, in which Natalya Demidova and Suleiman Aziz took part. The most touching and sentimental moment was the participants' farewell words to each other. For several hours, as romantic music played softy, the students tied ribbons on each other's badges, laughed and cried, said parting words and made wishes, saying goodbye after two weeks of living together on the Summer Campus of the Presidential Academy.
The International Summer Campus of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) is a unique annual educational project for best students of Russian and foreign universities.
