Anna Federmesser told how RANEPA Summer Campus participants can help people
Anna Federmesser, President of the Hospice Charity Fund “Vera”, told RANEPA Summer Campus participants about palliative care, the current situation with opioid analgesics and how each of us can help hospices and people.
She touched upon the taboo subject in the Russian mentality – the topic of death and related health conditions and events. In Anna Federmesser’s opinion, it is necessary to change people's attitudes towards the only absolute inevitability. “Death is a part of life. It is up to us, what our lives will be filled with at the end of the path of life – with pain or dignity and joy," underlined the lecturer. Taking into account that there is no culture of death discussion in Russia, there is no systematic understanding of how to organize palliative care (treatment to alleviate symptoms of a disease of patients when there is no hope of a cure) and to whom it might be provided.
The guest expressed hope that RANEPA Summer Campus participants could influence the country’s decision-making and the budget allocation process after graduating from the RANEPA. But they already can start working in funds and hospices: analysts, economists, managers and, of course, volunteers are needed there.
The Campus will be held in Innopolis, next to Kazan. The organizers of the Summer Campus of the Presidential Academy are the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia, with the support of the Group of Companies ACIG.
