Chairman of the State Duma Sergei Naryshkin arrives to the Summer Campus of Presidential Academy
On July 16, Sergei Naryshkin had a meeting with the Campus participants. During this meeting, the expert answered a number of questions which were of great interest to the students. The Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation is an Academic Advisor of the second international forum "Summer Campus of the Presidential Academy: Territory of Opportunities". Vladimir Mau, Rector of the RANEPA, also took part in the discussion.
The Summer Campus participants are 300 promising students from the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration and its branches, universities of the Republic of Tatarstan and participants of the All-Russian Contest of Research and Project Works "Sustainable Future of Russia - 2013". The representatives of the three departments organized within the framework of the Summer Campus took part in the meeting.
During the discussion, Sergei Naryshkin stressed the importance of the government’s involvement in forming a future talent pool: "The specialists in state and public management are in high demand now, but they will be even more needed tomorrow and in the near future. In Russia, this sphere has not yet been sufficiently equipped with the qualified personnel and each economic sector requires professional resources. It is extremely important that reputed universities purposefully train such specialists."
Mr. Naryshkin answered to the question by one of the Summer Campus participants concerning effectiveness of internships at governmental bodies as exemplified in the work of the State Duma of the Russian Federation. "The Duma addresses the issues covering all aspects of public and social life on both federal and regional levels. These efforts require knowledge and expertise in economics, law, history and social science. Thus, students can gain multifaceted practical experience from such internships. They should not necessarily work as parliamentarians. The State Duma of the Russian Federation is becoming the country’s main discussion platform, a representative body harmonizing the interests of different social groups and segments, open and accessible for all political forces. Experiencing the work of the parliament from within must be very interesting for young people. For the government it is also interesting to learn the stance of the younger generation on the most important modern issues", Sergei Naryshkin said.
In his turn, Vladimir Mau thanked the expert for his support to the students’ core education noting that undergoing an internship at a supreme federal authority expands opportunities for the future specialists to apply their competences and expertise.
As usual, the Summer Campus gathers students of the leading foreign universities as well. To this end, Sergei Naryshkin emphasized Russia’s significant interest in attracting foreign students to participation in such educational projects. "The world is getting global, therefore it is important that our young people communicate more actively with their colleagues from other countries."
In conclusion, the Summer Campus Academic Advisor emphasized that it is the younger generation that can become a creative force able to offer unexpected and effective solutions to the pressing social and economic challenges the country faces and wished good luck to the participants of the Summer Campus – 2013.
