ON JULY 23 THE PARTICIOANTS OF THE SUMMER CAMPUS START TO DEVELOP PROJECTS

Day 6 of the Summer Campus of the Presidential Academy was dedicated to the project activity of the participants. The students of all three departments started actively developing their own projects, which later will be presented in front of the high-status experts. The students’ initiatives affect all spheres of state policy, economy and social sector.

The organizers offered the students of the Department of Public Administration and Development to develop a long-term target program of federal importance. "The game itself is quite simple: there is an order to develop terms of the youth policy strategy of the Russian Federation till 2030. As the participants don’t have experience in such work, a new game format was suggested, according to which, Russia is a space cruiser flying towards the unexplored Planet 2030. Because of the metaphorical language, the participants get extremely interesting ideas. For example, the need t make a choice: to dock with other cruisers and fly as a united ship or divide the cruiser into parts herewith dividing Russia into a lot of separate countries. The game also envisages a reverse transfer, in this case the participants’ ideas will be transformed in real proposals," Aleksadr Ovchinnikov, project work coordinator and games expert at the Russian Association of Games in Education, said.

One of the participants told about his team’s project which includes creating educational program aimed at professional orientation of students and pupils. Shamil Sitdikov, student of the Kazan Federal University, commented, "Statistically, 52% of children don’t know what they are going to do in the future. Our idea consists in creating a special program. In reality, it is a game – we call it Transformers. Using this game, the children go through the stages of education and choice of their profession. This is a simulator of the real life, showing the person what he will do at a certain job. And if he sees that this activity does not fit him, he chooses the next profession."

Within the framework of the project work of the Department of Public Administration and Development, the students had no limitations but one: the business they created was to be legal. The participants completed a brainstorm in groups, which resulted in long-lists of business ideas. Then the students rated the proposals. Following the results of the voting, there was a top-3 of the projects which the participants had chosen on the basis of two filters. The first filter – uncovering problematic – defines if this project solves the problems b2b and b2с. The second filter – assessment of this market’s potential – shows what players are forced out by the project. "There were a lot of interesting ideas, and some of them are already implemented. When the participants engage in constructing, projecting the specific model on the basis of the business idea, they will see that perhaps such business already exists, but the existing model is not the most effective one, and there is an opportunity to offer something better," Teimuraz Vashakmadze, the expert of this workshop and Assistant Professor at the RANEPA.

The projects of the students of the Department of Public Administration and Development touched upon various consumers’ demands. Natalya Pekhtereva, student of the Lipetsk branch of the RANEPA, said, "We make special sets of snacks which are oriented mainly on the US market. Our team consists of three Russian members and four members from other countries: they are very interested in Russian culture, peculiarities of our holidays and celebrations."

 Artur Davydenko, student of the Volgograd branch of the RANEPA, spoke on the project envisaging placement of wireless battery chargers in public catering facilities to attract people using free Wi-Fi service. "First of all, we are oriented on the companies, the b2b sector. We have no direct rivals in Russia; we’ve seen such project in Europe. We also have not found indirect competitors, but they certainly exist and we’ll work at it. Our team consists of 6 persons: two economists, two managers, a doctor and a lawyer. We all have very different world-views and approaches, so in our work, we try to use fortes of each member of the group," Artur Davydenko remarked.

 In their turn, the students of the Department of Public and Social Projects were solving narrowly defined tasks. "The day before, a number of topical issues was chosen, one of them became a basis of the future project. Today during our work, we were to define what kind of organization it is, how we see an ideal solution of the chosen problem, whom we want to involve as partners and on what conditions we will manage to build this partnership. As the basis, we have chosen the problem of adaptation of orphans leaving orphanages. In Russia, a lot of children graduate from the orphanages but they are not adapted to leave on their own. It starts with everyday skills, such as tea making, and finishes with budget planning and legal competence in the sphere of employment and housing. It is a rather vulnerable social group. Thus, we got an idea to create a training centre for such children which will be situated on the territory of boarding schools, to organize the courses on everyday work, to enhance legal competence, professional orientation and psychology. We have not decided yet what mechanisms we will use for implementing this development program. Most likely, we will act through field-specific committees, which will broadcast our proposals. Our practical experience which we acquired at the university lectures is undoubtedly of great help to us," Kristina Palamarchuk, student of the North-Western Management Institute of the RANEPA, said.

"It is very important for the participants to define the needs and the target audience of their projects because their initiatives are oriented on social entrepreneurship," Yaroslav Kaplan, social projects expert and Executive Director of Business Laboratory, emphasized.
